Rules and guidance for students, schools, and group participants in the Visvesvaraya Idea Bank.

Guidelines for School Participants

  1. Participation is open for schools from Classes 1 to 10.
  2. An optional participation category is available for Classes 11 and 12 (Science stream) students.
  3. School dropout children aged 6 to 18 years may also participate under the respective category.
  4. Ideas submitted by students must be original and should not be copied from others or the internet.
  5. Schools are encouraged to conduct an internal innovation competition, screening, or idea presentation session within the school.
  6. After the internal selection process, schools can shortlist and submit the Top 2 best ideas.
  7. Each selected idea must be submitted separately (one by one) through the submission form or the prescribed submission method.
  8. While submitting each idea, schools must provide:
    • Student name
    • Class/grade
    • School name
    • School address
    • Coordinator/teacher name
    • Coordinator contact details
    • Idea title and description
  9. Students may submit ideas related to:
    • Agriculture & Farming
    • Healthcare / Medical
    • Assistive Technology
    • Women Safety & Empowerment
    • Transportation & Mobility
    • Water & Sanitation
    • Education & Learning
    • AI / Technology / Digital
    • Rural Innovation
    • Waste Management
    • Environment & Climate
    • Renewable Energy
    • Food & Nutrition
  10. Schools may include drawings, sketches, charts, diagrams, photographs, or optional prototype details to support the idea.
  11. Ideas may preferably be submitted in English, Kannada or any Indian language are also accepted.
  12. After submitting your idea, a unique Idea ID will be generated and sent to your registered email address. You can use this Idea ID to track the status of your submission online at any time.
  13. Ensure all details are entered correctly before final submission.
  14. All shortlisted ideas must be submitted before the announced deadline.
  15. The decision of the jury/evaluation committee will be final and binding.
  16. Selected students and schools may receive Mentorship Support, Prototype Development Guidance, Certificates & Awards, Exhibition Opportunities, Innovation Recognition.
  17. Ideas can be submitted through: Email Submission, WhatsApp Submission, Postal Submission, Online Submission Form available on the website.
  18. Schools are encouraged to motivate maximum student participation and support grassroots innovation initiatives.

Guidelines for Individual Participants

  1. Participation is open for individual students from Classes 1 to 10.
  2. An optional participation category is available for Classes 11 and 12 (Science stream) students.
  3. School dropout children aged 6 to 18 years may also participate under the respective category.
  4. Each individual participant can submit only one idea.
  5. Ideas submitted must be original and should not be copied from others or the internet.
  6. Participants are encouraged to identify real-life problems from their home, school, village, city, or society and propose innovative solutions.
  7. While submitting the idea, participants must provide:
    • Student name
    • Class/grade
    • School name (if applicable)
    • Full address
    • Parent/guardian name
    • Parent/guardian contact details
    • Idea title and description
  8. Students may submit ideas related to:
    • Agriculture & Farming
    • Healthcare / Medical
    • Assistive Technology
    • Women Safety & Empowerment
    • Transportation & Mobility
    • Water & Sanitation
    • Education & Learning

Guidelines for Group Participants

  2. An optional participation category is available for Classes 11 and 12 (Science stream) students.
  3. School dropout children aged 6 to 18 years may also participate.
  4. Each group must consist of 2 students of the same age group/class.
  5. Each group can submit only one idea.
  6. Ideas submitted by the group must be original and should not be copied from others or the internet.
  7. Group participants are encouraged to identify real-life problems from their home, school, village, city, or society and propose innovative solutions.
  8. While submitting the idea, groups must provide:
    • Students name
    • Class/grade
    • School name (if applicable)
    • Full address
    • Parent/guardian name and contact details
    • Idea title and description
